After graduating from Bristol University in 2001, I began my vocational training in general dental practice in Derby, where I spent a couple of years honing my skills in all aspects of dentistry. During this time, I gained a lot of experience managing nervous patients, often with the aid of sedation techniques. I also developed an interest in more advanced restorative and surgical procedures.
I next spent one year at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham as a Senior House Officer in Maxillofacial Surgery, gaining further experience and training in oral surgery. During this time, I obtained my Membership in the faculty of dental surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Since 2006, I have worked in a general dental practice here in Radcliffe-on-Trent and have held a part-time locum staff grade surgeon position at the QMC’s Maxillofacial Unit, where I carry out surgical procedures under local anaesthetic.
Following on from this, I have developed an interest in oral surgery, including the placement and restoration of dental implants. I have now completed a number of courses in implantology, including a week-long intensive surgical course in 2008, and hope to begin an MSc course in dental implants in the near future.
Working closely with local dental laboratories, I strive to provide a consistently high standard of dentistry, using innovative techniques to provide quality aesthetics with crowns, bridges and porcelain veneers.
